Scientists Can See What You Think

Apparently scientists at a top Japanese brain examining school, (ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories) have been able to take direct images from a subject's brain, bringing us one step closer, they say, to being able to see our dreams.

This is amazing... though I'm not totally sure I understand the diagram, which helpfully shows how they collect the data: from the computer screen, the image passes to the brain. OK so far, then, from the brain, the image passes into the computer, and tadaa! You're able to see the brain image. I'm not sure that diagram's really telling me all it could....

The next step, is allegedly being able to see our dreams:

"Did you dream about a blurry white dot surrounded by blurry grey dots?"

"How did you KNOW?!"

Isn't technology marvellous.
